Powered Streetluge World Record

On 28 August 2007 at Bentwaters Parks Airfield in Suffolk I achieved all new speeds on a Streetluge. Using a miniature jet engine I averaged a speed of 112.7mph, smashing the old record of 98.5mph. On 9th August 2011 my record was beaten, now it's time to GET IT BACK!RoboChallengeOctane Sport

Streetluge is not a sport for the faint-hearted, but I wanted to push the boundaries even further. There is a World Record category for Powered Streetluge and the top speed they achieve. It takes an incredible degree of bravery just to luge, and if you're looking for a thrill whether you're a skater or a high-stakes www.Poker.dk player, then attaching a power source to your luge is probably the way to do it. On August 28, 2007 I broke the Guinness World Record, reaching speeds of up to 114.7mph and an average of 112.7mph over two runs.

After 4 years of holding the record it was finally beaten by Jason Bradbury on the 9th August 2011. Jason’s average speed over the 2 runs was 115.82 mph, only a 3.1 mph increase. I now plan to regain my record and increase the speed significantly enough to make sure it stands for a lot longer.

This is the Heward H80 gas turbine, it produces 80lbs of thrust and propelled me to record speeds back in 2007:

The H150 is this engines big brother and produces almost twice the power. I have agreed the use of one of these engines for my next attempt ensuring that I have more than enough power to smash the record.

I have confirmation from a major international media company who wish to cover the event and promote and distribute it throughout the world. If you are interested in sponsoring me then please get in touch for a detailed information pack.

The Jet Powered Streetluge is a unique and exciting vehicle that captures the imagination of those who see it. Since the record in 2007 I have demonstrated the Luge on numerous occasions for the media and at race tracks.

Original World Record Sponsors, with Thanks!

Wrigley's Airwaves helped my "Kick It Up A Gear" as one of their Airwaves Pros for the 2007 season. As a Pro I represented their company throughout the year during my racing, for my World Record and at various other events. Many thanks go to everyone at Airwaves for helping fund my dreams and making the record possible.
Heward Microjets are manufacturers of miniature jet engines. I met the company owners while working on Mission:Implausible for IWC Media / Sky TV and they were very interested in attempting the World Record. They will be supplying and specially modifying one of their engines which can propel me to speeds of 114mph and beyond.
Mega make world leading Surf Kayaks. Based on a steel chassis of my own design Mega helped mould and make an advanced composite shell for my luge to aid aerodynamics and performance.
VXB are a US supplier of precision bearings. For my world record attempt they have agreed a sponsorship deal which includes their fully ceramic skate bearings. These are one of the most advanced bearings on the market. Their ceramic construction makes them fast, durable and highly heat resistant, perfect for the speeds I achieve.
Seismic Skate make superb high speed and racing wheels. Seismic sponsored me for the 2007 season, supplying wheels which helped me achieve record speeds and climb the IGSA World Cup Streetluge rankings.
